Senior Supreme Court advocate and Team Anna member Prashant Bhushan was beaten in his chamber by youth allegedly for his Kashmir comments.
Supreme Court lawyer-activist Prashant Bhushan was roughed up at his chambers here by a youth in full view of TV cameras Wednesday. The youth barged into his chamber and started beating him up, before being overpowered by others present in the room, TV visuals showed.
The two attackers claimed that they were from Sri Ram Sene. The attackers told Times Now that they were provoked by Bhushan's comments on Kashmir. One of the attackers has been arrested by the Police. Bhushan filed an FIR against the attackers.
In an earlier interview, Prashant had reportedly said that the Kashmiri people should be given 'azadi' if they don't want to live with India. He had also reportedly recommended that withdrawl of Indian army from Kashmir.
Prashant Bhushan (Hindi: प्रशांत भूषण) (born 1956) is an advocate practicing in Delhi and is a social activist. He is the son of eminent lawyer and former Law Minister of India Shanti Bhushan. He Lives in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
He is a social activist who helps people through the higher judicial system. In his career of 15 years he has worked on around 500 PILs (Public interest Litigation). He is a strong supporter of a Clean Judiciary.
He alongwith Arvind Kejriwal is the prime mover of Anna Hazare-led anti corruption movement in India.
He was a member of the joint committee constituted in April 2011 by Govt of India to draft the Lokpal Bill. He alongwith other members of Team Anna had clashes of views with Govt nominees ( ministers) on the said bill. He even termed the Lokpal Bill introduced by Govt in the Parliament as the Promotion of Corruption Bill as it contains harsh punishment for whistleblowers and gives more than fair protection to the alleged corrupt like giving opportunity of being heard before investigation.
Indian parliament has issued him ( besides Arvind Kejriwal and Kiran Bedi ) a notice of breach of privilege for his alleged remarks against the Parliament and parliamentarians which he denied but maintained that it's a violation of principle of natural justice as nobody can be a judge in one's own cause.
On the 12th of October 2011, Bhushan was attacked and beaten up by Sri Ram Sene activists for his view that the Indian army should be withdrawn from Jammu and Kashmir and if the Kashmiri people did not want to live with India they should be granted freedom.

Education
He studied in IIT Madras, which he quit after a semester in Mechanical Engineering. He studied economics and then philosophy (of science) at Princeton and doing his law fromAllahabad University.
